Oscars 2025: Nominees Announced – Emilia Perez, Wicked, and The Brutalist lead the way!

The 2025 Oscar nominations, revealed Thursday morning, saw Emilia Pérez lead with 13 nominations, setting a record for a non-English-language film surpassing previous record holders Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Roma, which each earned 10 nominations.

Following closely behind were The Brutalist and Wicked, tied with 10 nominations, followed by A Complete Unknown and Conclave with eight each. All five films will compete for Best Picture alongside Anora, Dune: Part Two, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys, and The Substance.

Coralie Fargeat (The Substance) was the only woman nominated for Best Director, while Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez) became the first openly transgender performer to receive a Best Actress nomination. Netflix led studios with 16 nominations, followed by A24, Universal, Focus Features, and Searchlight.

The 97th Oscars, hosted by Conan O’Brien, will air March 2 on ABC and Hulu.
